Coffee & Cards Episode #1

Welcome to Coffee and Cards. This is the first episode of a weekly series that I am kicking off. In this episode, I set up the shape of the show for how I'm currently planning them. I'll start with my coffee, then talk about the deck of the week, a trick I'm working on, news about a book or magazine, and any worthwhile bit of magic news from across the industry.

The deck of the week is Off the Wall by Svngali, the third deck in their series. I opened a fresh pack on air, and talked about the Svngali collection overall and how I have the entire line, including the prototype!

The heart of the episode is a story I would rather have learned another way. At a party, another magician asked about Oil and Water routines, and I performed Oil and Queens from memory. I forgot the one critical first move, and it fell flat... as you would expect. When I went home, I immediately pulled The Complete Walton Vol. 1 off the shelf and flipped straight to the page where I originally learned it and, well, yeah. In today's episode, I attempt to demo Oil and Queens by Roy Walton.

I also talk about a few other things, including celebrating the 1000th show of Magic After Hours at Tannen's! I've been to the show twice and do highly recommend it. But yeah, speaking of shows, go watch Episode 1 of Coffee & Cards!

If you have a trick, book, or deck you think I should look at during a future episode, tell me directly in the video's comments or reach out here.
