James Coffee, Black Edition

James Coffee, Black Edition

This deck, subtly named James Coffee Playing Cards is a re-release of a deck of the same name from 2016. The distinct visual difference between this deck and the original is the logo on the front of this deck is black whereas the original was gold. The reprint also featured a limited orange edition deck too.

The design between the two editions, the black and orange, are the same. The difference is in the coloring.

This black edition deck comes in a matte black tuck with black printing on it. Black on black, it's a thing! On the face is the James Coffee Co. logo, embossed and prominent, especially with proper lighting.

The back design of the cards is the name of the brand with a miniature logo on each half. The background color is black and the writing and accents are finished with a silver / goldish metallic ink.

On the faces, we don't find any custom artwork. However, the colors of the standard-red pips are all orange. The courts, also standard artwork, have had all of their coloring updated and also feature a luxurious gold metallic ink that really shines nicely. These features are identical in the orange deck too.

The deck consists of 56 cards:

  • 52 playing cards
  • Two identical jokers
  • Two ad cards
    • One offers a Quick Brewing Guide for several variations of making coffee!

Where to buy?

This deck is created by Art of Play and James Coffee. It's beautifully printed by USPCC on D&D thin crush stock with an air-cushion finish. The deck features two identical jokers. While the design of the pips and courts are not custom, they have updated the colors to match the vibe of the deck and added gold metallic ink to the courts to make them shine. The tuck case has an embossed, matte design, and is secured with a gold foil stamp seal.
