Overlook

Overlook

The Overlook playing cards by Art of Play, released in their 2020 Mystery Deck assortment, feature a borderless design patterned from the carpet of the Overlook Hotel in the movie The Shining.

Though it was never for direct individual sale, the Overlook deck is back up for grabs in the 2021 Mystery Deck list.

Art of Play hasn't shared any details regarding the deck, including who the designer is or if it was created to pay homage to the classic movie or not.

The courts and pips of the cards are not themed towards the film, only the back design, tuck, and the extra cards so it's hard to make the assessment on our own.

This deck is created by Art of Play. It's beautifully printed by USPCC on D&D thin crush stock. The deck features a blank face card, and two non-identical jokers. The blank faced card is red rather than the typical white, and the extra ad card is in the pattern of the maze on the tuck. The tuck case has an embossed design and is secured with a red VOID IF REMOVED seal. The tuck is void of any printing, logos, or other identifying marks making it's contents a mystery to those who don't know.
