False Anchors V3 - Special Edition

False Anchors V3 playing cards, the third deck in the False Anchors family by Ryan Schlutz, kicks the nautical theme up a notch. Coming in two varieties, the Special Edition seen here, and the Standard Edition, the V3 deck has several secrets hidden throughout.

Originally a Kickstarter campaign and fulfilled by Art of Play, the deck is now available through other retailers.

Unlike some decks that have "special editions" and just give a different tuck design or maybe gilding, this special edition is almost an entirely different deck. The tuck is different. The backs of the cards is different. The Ace of Spades and even the Jokers are different. The rest, well, the rest is the same...

False Anchors V3 - Special Edition tuck and back design

The tuck case is a picture of the sea (or so I guess), and it wraps to the back. The card backs are white with anchors that have a blue gradient shading to them.

The deck consists of 56 cards:

  • 52 playing cards
  • One standard Joker
  • One gaff Joker (with an Ace of Hearts on the back)
  • One Smudged 8C
  • One Mis-pipped AH / 2C

This deck is created by False Anchors and designed by Salomanda. It's beautifully printed by USPCC on Premium Crushed stock with an air-cushion finish. The deck features a one two-faced Joker / Ace of Hearts, one smudged-ink 8 of Clubs, and one mis-indexed Ace of Hearts / 2 of Clubs, and two non-identical jokers. The tuck case has an embossed, matte design, is seal free, and features printing on the inside!
