Joker and the Thief: Blood Red Edition Playing Cards
The Blood Red Edition deck of playing cards is Joker and the Thief's third deck of playing cards and the final deck that completed the trilogy of the main, or original, Joker and the Thief line. The trilogy
The tuck features a satin gold foil stamping across the entire thing, highlighting the intricate design across. The inside also features a hot-stamped foil design too, something they were able to keep for future versions of the deck too.
The cards, staying true to the story of life and mortality, have a one-way back design that has a king in one corner and a jester in the other; but there are other beautifully designed elements that push it into a one-way design too.
The faces are fully custom too, everything from the pips, the pip colors, and the court cards. The courts and jokers are also highlighted with a silver metallic ink that compliments the design perfectly.
The deck consists of 56 cards:
- 52 playing cards
- Two non-identical jokers; one a harlequin, the other a bandit!
- Two ad cards
I'm not sure how this deck was originally made available. Typically, J&T has released their decks via Kickstarter campaigns but I'm unable to find one for the original release of this deck. However, I do know that the first edition tuck was embossed on all sides, and the deck was printed by EPCC.
A reprint of the deck came later on with a non-embossed tuck and printed by USPCC using their Crushed Performance Stock with a Linen-Glide Finish. There are other subtle differences between the two, but for the most part they're the same deck -- just a different printer.
